I’d bet that you said “YES!” to one or all of those questions! All of the situations mentioned above require self-advocacy, the ability to advocate successfully for your wants and needs. Self-advocacy is an essential skill in work and life. You are the one person best suited to look out for your interests. The more you can speak up for yourself, using your voice to communicate confidently and assertively with others, the better conditions you will create to achieve your goals.

By the end of this course, you’ll have a toolkit of assertive strategies to effectively advocate for yourself.
In my career, I’ve seen firsthand how important self-advocacy can be. You can’t simply wait for things to happen – you need to make them happen by expressing yourself and standing up for what you want. Depending on where you’re starting on your self-advocacy journey, this may seem daunting. And that’s ok! But as your instructor, I’m here to tell you IT IS possible. You CAN be your champion.
